Tim White - Once again we welcome Tim White to our stage at the Smyth County Jam. Tim comes to us from Blountville, Tennessee, but says he spends a lot of time in Smyth County; as he is MC of the "Song of the Mountains" shows at Lincoln Theater in Marion. Tim is a person who never met a stranger, always willing to listen to people who stop him any time. He plays a banjo as well as guitar and a five-string dobro. Tim is a member of the very popular VW Boys Band, along with Dave Vaught and Larry McPeake. He grew up in Roanoke and was influenced by Reno and Smiley and Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. Tim's grandfather played a little music (fiddle). Tim and Penny have three children ; two girls and a boy. Tim says his son Murphy, is beginning to show a bit of interest in music.
