Gary Webb - Gary Webb comes to the Smyth County Jam from his home near Fort Chiswell, Virginia (Max Meadows). We are glad to have Gary on our stage. He plays both old-time and bluegrass banjo equally well. Gary says he has been playing banjo for about forty-two years! He is currently self-employed. Gary has two grown children; he says his son is learning to play banjo. Gary is proud of his two grandsons, one of which is beginning take an interest in music. Gary says his great-grandfather, his grandfather and his father all played banjo. Most of his dad's people played music; in fact. Gary's father and Gary learned to play together. Gary likes both styles of banjo; bluegrass and old-time. Earl Scruggs is his idol as far as a musician is concerned.
