Debbie Thweat (on bass) - Debbie is the wife of Melvin Thweat. She is the Thweat Family band bass player, she also plays piano. Melvin told her if she wanted to play with the band she would have to get an instrument she could carry; being a practical soul, she chose the bass, realizing a piano was a bit hard to manage! Debbie says her grandmother could play accordion, guitar and piano as well as being an able singer, she says she was musically influenced by her grandmother. Debbie has brothers that make music and her mom plays piano, so she has a real musical background. Debbie doesn't have any particular favorite musical group/single; but likes bluegrass music above all the rest. She is currently employed by Wal-Mart. The Smyth County Jam is glad to have her with us at any time she can come.
