Allen Surface - The Smyth CountyJam welcomes Allen Surface for his second visit. Allen was born in Radford and lives in Christiansburg, Virginia currently. He has three children. Allen plays guitar, mandolin, bass and banjo; he states he does NOT sing! He plays with the "Comptons" from Floyd and is also in a church band. Allen's grandfather and his father, a brother and his mom also played music. He became interested in playing through his family. Allen says he has been playing about 25 years now. A favorite musician is Tony Rice. He likes the song "Shadows". Allen said friends told him about the Smyth County Jam. He says his first impression of the jam is a good one and it has a good format, plus friendly people. Allen is employed by Solutions Architech for Network Security.
