Adam Steffey - The Smyth County Jam welcomes Adam Steffey to our venue. Adam comes to us from Jonesborough, Tennessee, however he was born in Norfolk, Virginia. He says he has spent most of his life in Tennessee. He has been playing mandolin about thirty years (since around 1980) and he sings some also. Adam is fortunate to be talented enough to make a living out of playing music and travels with his band The Boxcars. In addition, Adam teaches mandolin in the East Tennessee University Bluegrass program. Adam's wife Tina plays claw hammer banjo with the well-known Grayson Highlands Band. Adam says he has great admiration for the late Dempsey Young formerly of the Lost and Found Band. Young was his early inspiration.
