Doug Smith - The Smyth County Jam had the pleasure of welcoming a newcomer last night; January 20th. Doug lives in Bristol, Virginia and teaches at Cornerstone Academy Christian School. He and wife Krystal have five children. His band is called "Doug Smith & The Wayfaring Strangers." Doug plays guitar, harmonica, a little banjo and sings quite well. He is beginning to learn to play fiddle as well. Doug says one of his earliest memories is of his mother playing piano in church. He has a sister and a brother. Doug says his wife Krystal, plays autoharp and piano; two of his children are learning to play the ukulele Doug is a huge fan of the late Johnny Cash whom he met at the Carter Fold. Doug's favorite song is "Wayfaring Stranger" He says he wants to come back to the jam soon. We hope he can and bring Krystal also.
