Darrell & Margaret Simonds - The Smyth County Jam is very fortunate that we get so many good musicians/singers. Darrell and Margaret came a long way to sing and play for us. It is a 3 1/2 hour drive from their home in Bessemer City, North Carolina. We do appreciate their interest in our jam. Darrell plays guitar and sings; Margaret says she does not play an instrument but she and Darrell sing very nicely together. This is Margaret's first time at the jam, Darrell has been here before. The Simons have one child and two grandchildren, one of whom is able to play several string instruments (he is fifteen). Darrell's parents played in a band as does Darrell, who plays with Herman Coffee's "Bluegrass Tradition Band". Darrell says he began playing about twenty years ago. Darrell is employed by Wix Filters, he has been with them thirty-five years. Margaret works at Stablius, she has been with them thirty years. The Smyth County Jam hopes they will make the long trip back to entertain us when possible.
