Tom Short - "Not too tall", he says. The Smyth County Jam welcomes another member of the Bluegrass Kinsmen to our venue. Tom is from Jewell Ridge , Virginia. He has played music for twenty-one years. He plays guitar, bass and sings too! He says his grandfather and four of his granddad's brothers played all instruments. Any one of them could play the other's instruments. Tom works in the field of Hydro-milling which is power plants. He has worked in many countries and Canada, as well as the US. Due to his work and travelling, he quit the band for a while, but he is now back . Tom says his favorite musicians are Ronnie Bowman, John Starling. Sammy Shelor and Doyle Lawson. We hope Tom can come back to the Smyth County Jam. Tom has two children and five grandchildren.
