Ivan Sexton - The Smyth County Jam is happy to welcome a musician/singer of Ivan Sexton's caliber to our midst! Ivan plays guitar, bass and sings very well. He lives in Catawba, Virginia, although he is a native of Floyd County, Kentucky. Ivan is retired from Anchor-Hocking Glass Company, where he worked as a painter for the most part. He has played music all his life. There were seven boys and five girls in his family, Ivan says all the girls played and only one of the boys beside himself. His mother played accordion and organ also. He says he has opened shows for all the big names in country music such as George Jones, Bill Monroe, and about any one else you can mention. Ivan has one son and one daughter and five grandchildren. He says he likes the music of George Jones and Lester Flatt very much. We hope he will come back to the Smyth County Jam again.
