Ted Robinson - The Smyth County Jam is pleased that Ted Robinson stopped by to sing and play for us as he was visiting some of the Crooked Road venues. Ted comes to us from his home in Delaware. He has been playing guitar and singing since he was about sixteen years old. One of his great-grandfathers played banjo. His nickname was "Broom "Johnson, because he made brooms. One of Ted's aunts had musical talent and his brother plays guitar and bass. Ted enjoyed seeing Clintwood and the Ralph Stanley home place as well as visiting and playing at The Breaks State Park a couple days ago. He found The Breaks a breath-taking place. Ted says he has a friend who was born in Grundy, VA who is a cancer victim and he had promised to go there and bring back photographs of the work being done there to move the town. So, he is actually on a mission apart from the music aspect. Ted says he got two of his older aunts who live in an assisted living facility to host some musical get-togethers so they would not be so lonely. It has worked out very well for all concerned.
