Ray New - Ray and his wife, Sheryl, hail from Houston, TX. They've came a long way to be with us at the Smyth County Jam. Ray and Sheryl have three daughters. He plays guitar and mandolin and sings. He is the owner of a very unique dulcimer (see the photo). The daughters play piano and violin, and one has a music degree in singing. Ray was raised in a music-loving family, but he did really start playing until 2012. He did get his first guitar in 1969, but was not dedicated. Ray likes a wide range of music from the Gaithers to Ricky Skaggs. They found us through some Crooked Road literature and we're glad they did. He says he loves the jam. We hope they can both come back one of these days.
