Dave Neal (1948-2011) - Dave Neal from Chatham Hill shows up at The Smyth County Jam on a fairly regular basis. He says he has been playing guitar about forty years. Dave is an excellent rhythm guitarist. He has played in Florida and many other venues. Dave played with the band" SAGE GRASS" for quite some time. Also with "NO SPEED LIMIT" band, both very well known bands in the area. Dave says he "'chops" at the mandolin from time to time. He has a daughter, Lacey, who is thirteen.

TROUTDALE, VIRGINIA: DAVE NEAL David Michael Neal, age 62, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at his home.
Dave was a well known bluegrass musician & performed with many local bands.
He is survived by his daughter, Lacy Neal of Chilhowie, Virginia; his brother, William Neal of Roanoke, Virginia; his significant other, Lisa Barker and her daughter, Samantha Robertson, both of Troutdale, Virginia; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 7, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Elder Larry Blevins officiating. Family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
