Tim Mills - The Smyth County Jam welcomes Tim Mills from Pilot, Virginia. Tim plays banjo and a “little” guitar, as he puts it. He is truly a very accomplished musician. He plays in a band called "CROSSTIES". He is employed by Virginia Tech. He says his mother's parents played music and there was a banjo player in his family also. His mother plays piano and his dad plays harmonica. Tim's brother and sister both sing. He has music in his background, therefore. He recalls meeting Larry Hogston at Fries fiddler's convention. Larry speaks very highly of Tim and says that not only is he a great musician, but he is a great person to go with it. Tim is a huge fan of Earl Scruggs.
