Gayla & Gene Mills - We are happy to welcome to our Smyth County Jam, a couple who travelled a good way to be here with us, Gene and Gayla Mills came here from their home in Richmond, Virginia. Gene is a guitarist-singer-songwriter and Gayla handles the bass fiddle and also sings some. They say they have been married "forever". They have spent the last twenty years in Richmond as college professors. Gene teaches philosophy and Gayla teaches writing. They have been playing music together for about six years. Gene says he likes so many musicians it is hard to name one, but a current favorite is Russ Barenberg who used to play with "Country Cooking Band', however, he says he has a new favorite every day!
