Ricky Kennedy - Rick Kennedy is from Grundy, Virginia. He has been with the Bluegrass Kinsmen since April. We are pleased that he came to the Smyth County Jam, to play for us. Rick says he plays bass, and a 'little guitar. He has been playing music for twenty-five years. Rick has two children, whom he says are not into music. His parents sang in church in a quartet, at one time, and his grandparents as well. Rick is a retired coal miner who says he used to like to hunt coons and ride horse-back until he got crippled too much to do so. Rick's favorite musicians are Jimmy Martin, Joe Mullins with the Radio Ramblers and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. Rick says he likes all songs, but the traditional ones are his favorites.
