Edgel Kennedy - The Smyth County Jam welcomes Edgel Kennedy from Wytheville, VA. Edgel is a member of The Gospel Mountain Boys band. He has been playing music off and on since he was about eleven years old. Edgel plays banjo (bluegrass & old-time) and guitar and is a fine singer also. He has played banjo since the 1990's. Two of Ed's brothers play instruments as well as his dad who played banjo and a great-grandfather played fiddle. He admires The Stanley Brothers (Carter and Ralph), and says Larry Sparks is another musician he likes very much. Edgel is a disabled Vietnam veteran. We thank him for his service to this country. He says he also likes to hunt and fish.
