Dr. Josh Jessee - The Smyth County Jam extends a warm welcome to Dr. Jesse. Dr. Jessee is a pharmacist in Wise, Virginia. He was invited to play with the Hollow Ground Band while their mandolin player is on vacation. Dr Jessee has been playing music about thirteen years or so. He said he began on guitar. Now he plays mandolin and sings bass, for the most part. He has played with Virginia Cross Ties Band eight years, as well as a stint with Uncut Grass Band. He has a close relation with Ralph Stanley. his great-grandmother was Ralph's sister! It is no wonder he says he admires the music of the Stanley Brothers. To name a favorite band, he says the music of the Stanley Brothers and the Seldom Scene group. As to naming a favorite song, Dr Josh says he has too many too mention one. This is his first time at the Smyth County Jam and we sincerely hope he will come again, as work and time permit.
