Pauline & Emery Horn - This dynamic duo is a regular at the Smyth County Jam and contribute very much to it's success. They are a shining example to those who would follow after them. The Horns spent many years in Michigan, where Emery worked for GM for thirty plus years. Pauline pursued the promotion of bluegrass music during this era. She says enthusiastically. "I love it!" That love certainly shows. She could likely write a book about this part of her life. Pauline and Emery sing together, and at times Pauline sings alone. Emery plays guitar and fiddle. Both are hospitable and out-going to all whom they meet. When Pauline is not working at the Swiss Inn in Glade Spring; she is busy at her kilns creating lovely dolls. She is a superb cook, in addition to all her other talents. It is a treat to see Pauline out on the floor clogging away...she is a "keeper!" The Horns had three sons; Randy (deceased), Larry and Kenneth. Larry, who still lives in Michigan, started playing fiddle when he was about seven years old. He is still at it and doing a bang-up job, by the way! Another son, Randy (deceased), was involved with the Smyth County Jam where he did a lot of the MC work. The Horns make their home in Glade Spring.
