David Holtsclaw - David Holtsclaw comes to the Smyth County Jam from his home in Carter County, Tennessee. David handles the mandolin very nicely, he plays bass also. He is a police officer in Johnson City, Tennessee, serving for about fourteen years. He is a member of the "Hollow Ground Bluegrass Band" He has two daughters who are trying to learn music. They are Myra and Emma, David's wife is Jennifer, who plays piano. David's grandfather played guitar and an uncle played banjo. He enjoys outdoor pastimes as hunting and fishing. David is also very active in his church; the Southwest Baptist. His favorite musicians are Jim and Jessee McReynolds. He has no favorite song; but says he likes all genres of music.
