Dave Hellens - It is indeed a pleasure for the Smyth County Jam to welcome a visitor from so far away, and with such talent! Dave Hellens comes from New Castle, Australia (on the east coast of the country.) He says he is making the "bluegrass tour" here and there in this country. He says he likes to get to know the musicians not only at the large venues , but also the smaller jams/conventions in the area . Dave plays a superb banjo--bluegrass style. He states he has been playing for fifteen years. He is an electrical engineer by profession. Dave is in the embryo stage of putting together a bluegrass band back in his home country. We wish him all the luck there is! He has a brother who plays keyboards. Dave says he likes to listen to about any one in the bluegrass field, and particularly JD Crowe and Earl Scruggs.
