Tommy "Red" Hazelwood - We at the Smyth County Jam welcomes Tommy "Red" Hazelwood. Tommy comes to us from White House, Tennessee, which is north of Hendersonville; that is a good way from our jam site! Tommy is a heavy equipment operator, who is grading a road into a bridge for the state of Tennessee. He is fifty-two years old and says he began playing guitar when he was around ten and the banjo when he was fourteen. He is a singer as well. When he has time to play, he belongs to a band called The Williamson County Bluegrass Band. He has played with this group for twenty-six years! He has two boys of his own and three step-children. Plus four step-grandchildren. Tommy says he admires the late Carter Stanley, both as a musician and a song writer. We hope that Tommy will return to our jam whenever he is able to do so.
