Charlie Hampton - The Smyth County Jam always welcomes newcomers, and best of all the younger folk who come to us. This is Charlie Hampton's first time at the jam. Charlie has been playing banjo for about nine months. He says his father plays mandolin and his grandmother plays piano. Charlie is in the eighth grade at Marion Middle School. He lives outside the town of Marion. Charlie has an older sister. He has not decided what he will undertake when he finishes school. Charlie admires the style of Earl Scruggs very much. One of his favorite songs is The Wayfaring Stranger. We invite Charlie back to play and jam any time he wishes to come.
