Blaine Gilliam - Blaine comes to the Smyth County Jam from Abingdon, Virginia. He works for the New People's Bank there. So if you need a loan, see Blaine! Blaine is a graduate of East Tennessee State Bluegrass program, as well as being a banker. He says he has been playing banjo for seven or eight years. Blaine plays bass and guitar in addition to banjo. He does not play with a band, but enjoys playing with anyone who asks. During his set at the Smyth County Jam he played with Madison Massie and others. Blaine is engaged to be married at a later date. He says his grandfather played a fiddle when he was living. Blaine likes almost any banjo picker; he could not mention a favorite, however. One of his favorite songs/tunes is "Angeline, the Baker." He complimented us on having a really good jam; we appreciate that, Blaine! Hopefully Blaine will visit us often.
