Jim Gaskins - The Smyth County Jam welcomes Jim Gaskins from Port Republic, Virginia. Jim and his wife Phyllis are friends with Steve and Penny Kilby. Jim plays fiddle, banjo, mandolin and a little guitar. He says he has an Albert Hash fiddle. The Gaskins have been together since 1971. They have no children. Jim says he learned a lot about fiddling from Luther Davis in the Galax area. We hope they will come back to visit the jam when time permits.
