Smyth County Jam Bios

Brandon Farley

Brandon Farley - Brandon Farley comes to the Smyth County Jam from Princeton, West Virginia. If ever there was a talented young man he is that one. Brandon's father, Gene, says Brandon began to learn mandolin at the ripe old age of five! He did not stop there; he plays guitar, banjo, fiddle and mandolin nowadays and is an accomplished singer! He heads the "Brandon Farley Band" and makes his living touring music venues. Brandon has four children; ages five, three, two and ten months; two boys and two girls. He is a very spontaneous musician with an awesome stage presence. On stage Brandon mentioned his grandfather, Joe Meadows, who was a fiddler playing with several well known bluegrass personalities such as; The Stanley Brothers, Bill Monroe, Jim and Jessee McReynolds and Larry Sparks. Mr. Meadows passed away in 2003; he was someone Brandon looked up to. Brandon himself says he has played three shows with Earl Scruggs. He says his very favorite music to listen to is that of The Stanley Brothers. We wish him much success in his chosen musical career and invite him back to Smyth County Jam when he is able to come.
