Gary Edwards - We welcome to the Smyth County Jam, Gary Edwards, from near Haysi, Virginia. Gary says he has worked in the coal mining industry with our own Ersel Fletcher. Gary plays both mandolin and fiddle and sings quite well too. Although, he has played with Millard Edwards, they are no relation. Gary's band is called "Gary Edwards and the Basic Grass." He is now retired from the coal industry after thirty-seven years. Gary has two grown children. He says music is his biggest hobby, since he is retired. Gary is the only musically inclined person in his family. Gary enjoys the music of Third Tyme Out, and is also keen on the Whitetop Mountain Band's music. His favorite song is "Once More." We hope Gary will come back to Smyth County Jam when he is free to do so.
