John Bryan - John Bryan is from Boone, NC. He has an illustrious musical heritage: he is a third cousin of the world famous Doc Watson, as well as being the great- grandson of Willard Watson, who played a very credible claw hammer banjo for many years and was known far and wide as a story- teller of no small stature. John is a very fine singer and plays both banjo and guitar. The Smyth County Jam is honored to have John's talent among us. when he can find the time to visit here. John plays with "Surefire" and "Southern Accent" bands, both local Boone -based bands. He says he would like to make a career out of his musical talent. We wish him well in this endeavor. John says his mother plays piano. He admires the Stanley Brothers and Flatt and Scruggs bands.
