Darnell Breeding (1933-2013)

Mr. James Darnell Breeding, age 80, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Thursday (August 15, 2013) in a Charlottesville, Virginia hospital. Born February 3, 1933 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Vince and Mae Jackson Breeding. He had lived most of his adult life in Alexandria, Virginia where he worked as a supervisor of commercial construction until his retirement. He was a member of Mid-Atlantic Carpenter’s Association Local # 1665. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended Primitive Baptist Churches. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle (Tina) Moore Breeding and one son, Darrell Breeding; three brothers, Dillard “Doc” Breeding, Ray Breeding and Derl Breeding; three sisters, Pauline Breeding Sufton, Jan Breeding and Dean Breeding. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Breeding of the home; three sons, James V. Breeding and wife, Dorothy of Alexandria, Virginia, Glen A. Breeding and wife, Sherree of Accokeek, Maryland and Geary A. Breeding of Tampa, Florida; one daughter, Terri L. Clark and husband, Steve of Fort Washington, Maryland; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ken Breeding and wife, Karen of Boston, Virginia and Vernal Breeding of Michigan; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jim Duty, Elder Jim O’Quinn and Elder Price Viers officiating. Interment will follow in the Frank Smith Cemetery on Big A Mountain, Virginia. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by American Veterans Honor Guard.
