Jared Boyd - Jared Boyd comes to the Smyth County Jam from Laurel Fork, Virginia. Jared is a senior at Carroll County High School. He plays bass, guitar, claw-hammer banjo and is an accomplished singer. Currently, he is not in a band, but says he sometimes fills in when asked. He would be an asset to any band. His father's side, the Boyd's, come from Franklin County, Virginia. Both Jared's dad and his uncle play in a very well known band: "The Dry Hill Draggers." Jared partakes in the area fiddlers conventions during the season. He says he came in third place (adult category) at Galax. One of Jared's favorite musicians is the late Greg Hooven.(an exceptionally good musician/singer.) He says he also likes the "Dry Hill Draggers " very much. A favorite tune is "Mississippi Sawyer."
