Doug Blankenship - Originally from McDowwell County West Virginia, Doug Blankenship has retired from the Norfolk and Southern Railroad to live among us in Smyth County. We welcome him to the Smyth County Jam. Doug says he plays guitar, mandolin and banjo. He also has a great voice and is an excellent singer. Doug has been playing music between fifty and sixty years. As of yet he has not got a band together here, although he did have one when he lived in West Virginia. Doug has three daughters who play music. We hope they can visit the Smyth County Jam sometime also. He likes hearing the younger musicians somewhat better than the old ones. He did not name a favorite, however. At one time he had a family gospel group called "Revival." He has CD's out with "First Time Out" and "Third Time Out” bands. Any sales will be appreciated.
