Joe Bevins - What a talented young fellow at age eleven Joe is from Tazewell, Virginia. He has been playing music for six years. Not only does he play old time banjo quite well, he also says he plays guitar, dulcimer, mandolin , fiddle, bass, dobro, spoons and wash-board! He will be in the sixth grade this year. Joe has one sister who is two years old. He comes from a musical background: his mother, father uncles, grandparents great grandparents played music. Beside his music Joe says he likes hunting, go-carts and especially motorcycles. Joe has played with the Back Porch Pickers as well as his family band the Tower Street String Band. The Smyth County Jam is honored to have this caliber of young people come to our venue. Joe says he likes the music of the Whitetop Mountain Band, David Holt, Grandpa Jones and Doc Watson.
