Lisa Barker - Lisa Barker is a musician and a luthier who currently lives in Troutdale, Virginia and is employed by Grayson County, Virginia. Lisa plays piano, fiddle and guitar. She has musically talented people in her background as both of her grandfathers played; Will Thompson, who played fiddle and banjo and Nicholas Barker who played banjo. Also, she had several cousins who played musical instruments as well. Lisa became a luthier in 2007 from the encouragement of Dave Neal (who is quite possibly the best rhythm guitarist in the surrounding area.) Lisa says she learned very much from local luthiers who were willing to share their time and talent with her. She says she is fortunate to know so many talented people. Lisa built the first Smyth County Jam guitar that was given away at our festival in 2010. She gives much credit to Dave Neal, her companion and friend, for his guidance and encouragement. Lisa says she owes a debt of gratitude to Dave for all the good changes he has brought into her life. They attend the Smyth County Jam as much as they can. Lisa likes the music of the great band "The Eagles."
