Ted & Susan Ashe - The Ashes come to the Smyth County Jam from Low Gap, North Carolina; near Mt Airy. We are delighted to see them here. Ted plays guitar and some banjo; he has been playing for several years. Susan says she does not play an instrument, but her very clear and fine singing voice readily makes up for that. They have one child. Ted is retired from Burlington Industries and Susan from AT&T. Ted plays with the" Slate Mountain Ramblers", a well-known and much respected North Carolina band. They tell us that no one on either side of their families played music! Ted says he likes the musical style of Jim and Jessee McReynolds. Susan admires Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. We hope they will come back to visit the Smyth County Jam at any time.
