Adam McPeak & Mountain Thunder

Adam McPeak & Mountain Thunder - Adam McPeak is fourteen years old and is leading his own band "Mountain Thunder". He is in grade nine at school Adam plays mandolin, and says he plays a "little" guitar and bass. He and his band are most welcome at the Smyth County Jam anytime they can come. Adam lives in Max Meadows. Some musicians he likes are Daily and Vincent .He is the only child of another excellent musician Mike McPeak, of the McPeak Brothers Band, of a few years ago.

Mike McPeak -  Mike is Adam's father, he lives in Wytheville, VA. He is employed by Hutchinson Sealing Systems in Wytheville. Mike plays guitar and sings as well. He admits to playing a "little" on mandolin. The Mc Peak Brothers Band played all over the area from the late sixties. Mike says he was five years old when he started playing music; along with his brothers Udell, Dewey, and Larry. The brothers played some off and on until last November (2008). Mike is now a member of Adam's Mountain Thunder Band. Mike picks Rhonda Vincent and Doyle Lawson as some of his favorite musicians.

Stephanie Gibson - Stephanie is a member of "Mountain Thunder Band". She has been playing five-string banjo for two years. Stephanie is from Galax, VA and is fifteen years old. She says her grandmother used to play banjo. Her desire at this point in her life is to be a professional musician.. Stephanie likes the music of Earl Scruggs very much.

Marlon Dean comes from Independence, VA and is the fiddle player with Mountain Thunder. He is fifteen years old and is already making a good name for himself playing fiddle. He has been playing nine years. Marlon also plays piano, banjo and mandolin. He is undecided what career path he wants to take at this point, but says he wants to keep music in his life, whatever he chooses to do. Marlon attends a fiddle camp called "Peach Bottom Farm Fiddling Strings Camp". He states he likes the music of David Carwille who plays Texas contest style and also bluegrass.

David Chrisley comes from Max Meadows, VA. He plays bass and is already becomming and acomplished musician. When he get through school, he says he'd like to ba mechanic or a brick-layer. Davids father, Steve, is a very proficient banjo picker, so I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
