Smyth County Jam Bios

Gene Farley

Gene Farley (right) - Gene Farley makes his home in Princeton, West Virginia. He is a member of his son Brandon's band also; playing guitar and doing vocals now and then. We are happy that Gene has visited us at the Smyth County Jam and we hope he will see fit to return when he can. Gene has a daughter, Amanda, who plays bass. He also states that both his parents played music at one time. Gene travels with the" Brandon Farley Band "now since he has retired. He was a heavy equipment operator and after that he owned an asphalt business. Gene said he and his brother sang together many years ago. He raised his two children alone, which is quite an accomplishment, while holding down a demanding job. Gene has been playing since he was about fourteen years old and he says he is now sixty-five; that’s a lot of years! He said he would pick "Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver" as his favorite group to listen to.
